Copenhagen

I went on my first weekend trip via plane this past weekend.  Hannah and I went by ourselves to Copenhagen, Denmark!  We left early Thursday morning and flew out of Stanstead airport in London.  We got to Copenhagen around 10:00 am and took the metro to central Copenhagen where our hostel was located.  It didn't take us long to find and after getting checked in, we found our room:  8 bed, mixed dorm.    It was definitely different sleeping in the same room as 6 other strangers, but we made friends with a few of them and it turned out to be a good experience!  Once we got our stuff put away we set out for something to eat and to start exploring the town.  We found a pizza shop and each ordered a pizza for ourselves.  After devouring those, we started walking around Nyhavn Harbor.  We had such a relaxing afternoon just walking by the harbor and catching the sun rays.  Later we went back to the hostel to relax in the commons area where we both caught up on some reading in our books, got some coffee drinks, and put our feet up.

Day 2 of our long weekend trip consisted of a guided walking tour around the town in the morning.  It was about 3 hours long, but a great summary of the town and a lot of the history that comes with it.  After the tour ended Hannah and I walked to the National Museum and spent about an hour looking through that.  On our way back to the hostel we walked down Stroget which is the street where all the main shopping is.  It has Louis Vuitton and Gucci as some of the high end stores, lots of pubs, and many street vendors.  That night we joined some of the other guests at the hostel for a pub crawl put on by the tour guides from earlier in the day.  We went to five different pubs, and we met some really cool people!

Our last day in Copenhagen was more of a relaxing day since we had seen most of the sites by now.   We flew out of Copenhagen on Sunday morning around 11 and arrived back in London by about 3 pm.   Overall, Copenhagen is a very laid back town and very quiet compared to London.  It was nice to get out of the busy city mix that we are around a lot and catch some serenity in Copenhagen.
