Last Saturday, my two friends and I went to the River Thames to watch the boat race between Cambridge and Oxford. We expected just a typical race where one team would just barely beat the other, but that was far from what happened. Between the 2 and 3 mile markers, a man was spotted bobbing in the river. The race came to a halt and didn't resume for about a half hour. He was apparently a protestor and was arrested upon being pulled from the river. Shortly after the race started back up, Oxford broke one of their oars which slowed them down significantly, and Cambridge ended up winning the race.
