Weekend at the Markets

The majority of our (normal) 3-day weekend was spent browsing through the markets of London.  On Friday, we made our way over to Camden to browse through the markets which offered a wide arrangement of items, from food to clothing and accessories.  I purchased a new pair of leather boots at a store near the markets, and then I bargained at the markets to purchase a cute necklace for 5 pounds (roughly $7).  It was a lot of fun to stroll up and down the pathways to look at what each vendor had to offer.  Even got a few free samples from some of the food vendors- I'll take it!

Yesterday, a small group of us walked to Notting Hill to look through the street markets.  The streets were flooded with people as it was the weekend, and obviously the thing to do.  Very unique shops and assortment of goods to choose from, as you can see in some of my pictures.  After passing through the Notting Hill area we got on the tube and headed to the Shepherd's Bush area where we walked through the Westfield Mall.  It was absolutely massive with some pretty high-end shops.  We weren't able to get through the entire mall before we were all exhausted and ready to head home.  We ended our day with some good British food and beer at a local pub (one of my favorites) called the Gloucester Arms.  (pronounced Glahster).

Today, Hannah and I went to church which is about a ten minute walk from our dorms.  We spent the afternoon with a friend from Iowa State who is going to Fashion school in London.  We got a tour of her flat that she is staying in with 7 other girls.  It is very modern and cozy!  We were at her place for about an hour before heading to Trafalgar Square to watch fireworks for the Chinese New Year.  A nice ending to our weekend!

Everyone drives Range Rovers!
